The advantages Sint Maarten has over other Caribbean yachting destinations are so numerous that we need to concentrate on a few basics:
No customs! There are zero duties on any imported goods and therefore zero delay and zero cost in receiving a shipment from abroad at the shipping agent's location. (There are customs officers though, occasionally inspecting containers for illegal contraband, but other than that they do not interfere with commerce.)
Marinas with the highest service standards, able to accommodate yachts up to 300'-plus.
The largest lagoon in the Caribbean, landlocked except for two narrow canals and a perfect anchorage for yachts not looking for a marina berth. The Simpson Bay Lagoon is also an acceptable hurricane shelter up to a storm of category 4.
A complete yacht-service industry, with several large boatyards and chandlers who do enough volume to offer internationally competitive prices on any equipment. Craftsmen of every qualification are available as well.
THIS is the place to provision your ship! Products (including delicacies) from both the US and Europe are available, including a huge selection of wines. Any other liquors are available as well and sold at very, very good prices: stock up here!
The Lagoon connects Dutch St. Maarten with the French side and much commuting can be done by dinghy. Many bars and restaurants have a dinghy dock. Even supermarkets can be reached by boat. Your tender will only occasionally need the company of a rental car - at rates so low that there is no excuse not to get one and to explore more of St. Maarten/St. Martin.
The Princess Juliana International Airport has constant flights from the US and Canada, also to South America and daily non-stop transatlantics to Paris and Amsterdam. The airport is expert in handling private planes and has all facilities needed to receive VIPs in privacy.

THE BUSINESS POINT (BP) has relationship with State-side shipping companies, consolidating smaller shipments for cost efficiency and rapid service.
All orders should be shipped to BP's address in Miami, for forwarding to SXM. This arrangement is especially useful for online orders. The vendors are usually shy about shipping merchandise to a Caribbean port, if the credit card used has a US or Canadian address. By using a Miami address, there will be no problem.
If a package is forwarded by air, expect a delivery time within 48 hours from the package's arrival in Miami to reach SXM. Allow five days if shipped by ocean - usually the best option for heavy items.
